Sony A-Mount Cameras
Sony’s flagship 24mp fullframe A-mount camera is my workhorse camera of choice whenever size and weight is not an issue. Great CMOS sensor for great skin tones and outstanding image quality with full AF 1080 in 24, 30 and 60P.
Sony A77 II
Excellent update of the Sony A77 featuring Sony’s fastest and most accurate AF to date. Full AF 1080 in 24, 30 and 60P featuring a sensor with an identical pixel count to the a99. Sony’s 16-50/2.8 is no basic kit lens – it’s the perfect focal range for APS.
My workhorse camera for three years while shooting the celebrity portraits in ‘Art & Soul‘. Great sensor for portraits at it’s native ISO of 200. The A900 camera is built like a brick and has the biggest, brightest optical viewfinder ever! These days you can pick up a used A900 for around $1,000.
Fixed Lens Cameras
Fullframe mirrorless compact body with a fixed Zeiss 35mm/F2 lens. Leaf-shutter lens offers high flash sync speed and it’s whisper quiet for times you need to be discrete.
Sony RX100 MIII
Latest update of the best compact camera with everything I’ve asked for – and even better and faster Zeiss Lens, Large Sensor and the ability to Shoot RAW. I’m a big believer in always keeping a camera with me, so I often slip a compact camera in my pocket for those times I don’t take a larger camera.
Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-TX30
The perfect inexpensive slip-in-your-pocket-cam. Sure I know you got you iPhone for that, but this 18.2MP camera with 5x optical zoom lens is waterproof to 33′ (10 m), shock-proof to a drop of 5′ (1.5 m), freeze-proof to 14ºF (-10ºC) and dust-proof for worry free shots at the beach.
Lomography Diana F+ Medium Format Camera
I used to scour the flea markets for vintage with Diana cameras because I love their simplicity and the look you can get with them. Thanks to Lomography for bringing them back. They’re a great way to remind yourself that photography is about “seeing.”
